Set your calendar for August 8-10, 2008 to be a part of the Third Annual Legends of Diving Festival.

Hall of Fame legendary diver Nick Icorn appears as a featured diver for this year's International Legends of Diving festival at the Portage Quarry.

Biography and Tribute to Nick Icorn

Robert Croft, who introduced free diving to America, will join Nick Icorn and other legends featured this year. In 1967 Croft was the first to break the 200-foot barrier for depth while breath holding.

Also announced, Tina Icorn will join her father Nick at the Legends Festival. Tina is an accomplished diver with logs from around the world. The duo adds to the second generation pairing which also includes Dr. Sam Miller III and Dr. Sam Miller IV.

The third annual event will again attract visitors from around the globe.

New events will debut this year including an underwater treasure hunt on Saturday. Dr. Sam Miller returns with Alec Peirce. The creature of the Black Lagoon returns in the Revenge of the Creature movie.

  • Introduction - Nick Icorn’s daughter Tina

  • Nick Icorn - Talk about writing the manuals for diving when he was in charge of PADI and NAUI. He also will talk about the standards that he set for the industry for instructors and divers in certification. He wrote the book on setting the standards of diving for all agencies. He has the only collection in the world of some of the rarest scuba diving equipment and will show some of the equipment at this time. Nick has won every award in diving if not once, sometimes twice.

  • Bob Croft - Talk about his movie showing that evening. He will answer questions and talk about his record dives.

  • Dr. Sam Miller IV - Talk about hyperbaric medicine and gas mixtures
