Alec Peirce returns with an assortment of memorabilia
from the famous TV show,
Sea Hunt, celebrating its 50th
anniversary at the Portage Quarry this
year. Alec Peirce attributes his interest in the sport
of scuba directly to his life-long hero, Lloyd Bridges,
and to the Sea Hunt show.
Scuba 2000 is recognized as the finest scuba training
facility in Canada and one of the best in North America.

third annual Vintage Dive Gear Swap Meet, Sunday, August
10. Arrange for a table, or browse the tables for dive
gear that revolutionized diving. The best legends will
be there to evaluate it and verify its authenticity.

Hose Celebration
In 2009 Sand Dog VI will
be combining forces with Portage Quarry and the International Legends of
Diving event to host the biggest and best vintage equipment trip yet.
We will be diving in the crystal clear waters off of Grand Bahama Island
with the world famous group at UNEXSO. This is the first event of its
kind held at the resort and will no doubt be a hit with the world wide

Nick
Icorn, Sam Lecocq, Dr. Sam Miller, Alec
Peirce, Keith G. Cooper and the local legends in the
state of Ohio have replied with their intentions to
attend the Third Annual International Legends of
Diving event. The
|
tradition grows
each year, once again with a full weekend of
activities set to begin on Friday, August 8.
The festivities begin with an opportunity to mix
it up with the legend Nick Icorn. Also expect
the other legends to appear on the first night.
Legends who have become our good friends over
the three years of the Legends Fesitval.

Legends Festival is
international with more overseas guests expected and an
alliance with UNEXSO of the Grand Bahama Island.
Expect the best of diving in Ohio the weekend of the
International Legends of Diving at the Portage Quarry in
2008. In its third year the event

promises to be the best yet. We will be honored
with the presence of the
"Keeper of the Flame",
Nick Icorn. From his early
influence on the sport to his status today, he
is truly a legend in diving.

year at
the International Legends of Diving. Copies of his book
which is in final publication will be available for
autographs and purchase during the weekend.
A full schedule of activities is set for
Saturday, August 9. Many of the sponsors will
return with a full complement of
prizes to be given away to lucky guests. Last year
nearly $20,000 was given away in prizes and raffles,
including a trip to Belize.
Prizes will be drawn throughout the day, somewhere in
between presentations on the
the show starring Lloyd Bridges as Mike Nelson
captured the nation and
i nspired
many young divers to excel in scuba diving as a
recreational sport and as a profession.
Alec Peirce, the Portage Quarry legend who is most
knowledgeable about Lloyd Bridges as Nelson will give
away a prize for the most original of Mike Nelson's
dive gear worn in the movies.
The
festival adds another speaker and proudly presents a new
generation of legends. Dr.

Samuel
Miller, IV, a second generation diver of the
pioneer California diving family is also a
Hyperbaric Medicine Doctor at the University of
California, San Diego Medical Center. He is a
PADI, and NAUI (life) instructor and recipient
of the Pro 5000 diver award. He will be
presenting the very |

latest developments in hyperbaric medicine
treatment. He will also discuss tech diving and
various gas mixtures for deep diving.
The Creature, and the Feature Creatures, return as
the Saturday night main event. Bring your lawn chairs
and snacks for the showing Revenge of the Creature.
Sunday
will wrap up the weekend with a vintage swap meet. The
final meeting with the Legends will be Sunday afternoon.
Once
again the
Best Western Falcon Plaza
will be the host hotel for the weekend with specials for
the attendees of the International Legends of Diving,
2008.

Quarry help support its own Legends Festival April 2-6
in 2009 to kick off the next season of worldwide dive
